The New Camp is a hidden settlement of free miners, mercenaries and Water Mages secretly working to break out of the colony. It’s the best faction for a Dexterity / bow build and the home of water magic. Joining lets you pick between the Mercenary (martial) and Water Mage (arcane) paths.
Overview: how admission works
Where the Old Camp wants muscle and the Swamp Camp wants devotion, the New Camp wants usefulness. You prove your value through tasks that help the camp’s leadership and its rebellion, then earn the right to choose your class.
Step-by-step
- Find the New Camp — it’s tucked into a worked-out mine, more hidden than the Old Camp.
- Talk to Lares to start the admission questline. He becomes your main contact and sends you on the tasks that build trust.
- Complete the camp’s errands — helping the miners, running supplies, and dealing with threats to the camp’s secret operation. Each one raises your standing.
- Choose your class identity: commit toward Mercenary (martial trainers, bows, armor) or Water Mage (the water rune circle). Your earlier build choices should guide this.
- Officially join. Swearing in fails the Old Camp and Swamp Camp admission lines — so wrap up any cross-camp Chapter 1 tasks before you commit.
Tips
- Train Dexterity early if you’re going bow. The New Camp’s Dexterity trainers are the best in the game — aim for the breakpoints that unlock stronger bows (roughly DEX 55 for a solid mid bow, DEX 73 for a war bow).
- Water Mage hopefuls: plan your Mana and keep ore for circle training; remember mana only recovers by resting.
- Bank cross-camp XP first. As always, do the other camps’ early quests before you swear in.
- Stay neutral with the Old Camp until you’ve grabbed everything you want from them.
What you unlock
- The best Dexterity / ranged trainers and bows in the game.
- The Water rune circle, all the way to the 6th Circle (Wave of Ice).
- The Mercenary martial path with its own gear and trainers.
