Alkimia Interactive has rolled out Patch 1.0.3 for the Gothic 1 Remake, introducing a fresh round of stability fixes and aesthetic polishes to the colony. Following the recent integration of Nvidia DLSS Frame Generation to address performance complaints in Unreal Engine 5, this latest update continues the post-launch effort to smooth out technical hiccups.
Technical Polish and Facial Animation Adjustments
The primary focus of Patch 1.0.3 lies in facial animation updates. Players have previously noted that character expressions could appear rigid or desynchronized during dialogue. This update adjusts these facial rigs to deliver more natural reactions when interacting with key NPCs.
Additionally, the patch aims to resolve sporadic performance drops. These fixes specifically target dense locations like the Old Camp, where high NPC counts and dynamic lighting have occasionally caused frame rates to stutter.
This update follows a series of incremental improvements from the development team, including Patch 1.0.2 which balanced NPC strength and added display modes, as well as the early post-launch PS5 patch that tackled crash issues.
Verifying Your Installation
To confirm that the update has successfully applied to your client, launch the game and head to the settings screen. The bottom-right corner of the menu displays the current build number:
- PC Version: CL 170287
- PS5 Version: 1.000.009 (equivalent build)
If your game does not display these version numbers, verify the integrity of your game files on Steam or check the PlayStation network queue to prompt the download.
Ongoing Bug Submissions
For players still experiencing quest progression blocks, crashes, or general issues, Alkimia Interactive continues to monitor reports through the official THQ Nordic bug tracking portal. These community submissions remain critical as the studio refines the game’s systems post-launch. Issues regarding earlier features, such as crashes and the original lockpicking mechanics, were directly solved by community input.
