In Gothic 1 Remake, raw Learning Points (LP) do nothing until you spend them at a trainer. Knowing who trains what — and which trainers you can reach before committing to a camp — is how you avoid wasting a no-respec run. This is the full trainer map.
Reminder: there is no respec. Spend LP on plan. See the Learning Points & Skills guide for the system, and Best Builds for what to prioritize.
Weapon trainers
One-handed
- Scatty (Old Camp) — the main one-handed trainer, found near the arena, often chatting with Gor Hanis. He also teaches two-handed, which makes him the most important early trainer in the game.
- Cord (New Camp) — one-handed only. He’s by the lake during the day (often at the top of the waterfall) and in the New Camp’s cave in the evening.
Two-handed
- Scatty (Old Camp) — the key trainer for two-handed mastery. Crucially, if you intend to join the New or Swamp Camp but want two-handed, train it at the Old Camp with Scatty before you swear in, because Cord (New Camp) only covers one-handed.
Bow
Bow training is largely outside the camps and needs no faction or reputation:
- Cavalorn — lives in a hut outside the Old Camp walls, toward the left side near the river. Upgrades bow skill for roughly 50 Ore + 10 LP.
- Cohsel — another bow trainer reachable without faction commitment.
- Wolf (New Camp) — provides bow training from his quarters in the camp’s living cave.
Attribute trainers (Strength / Dexterity / Mana)
- Gor Na Toth (Swamp Camp) — effectively a one-stop shop for Strength, Dexterity and Mana training. Each camp also has its own attribute trainers, but plan your route so you can raise the stat your build needs.
Raising an attribute isn’t just damage — it’s how you meet weapon requirements (see Weapons & Armor). Push toward your build’s breakpoints deliberately.
Skill trainers
- Fingers — the lockpicking trainer, found next to Scatty’s hut, between the arena and Snaf. Upgrading lockpicking lets you survive more mistakes before a pick breaks and reduces lock complexity — see the Lockpicking guide.
- Survival skills (skinning/acrobatics/sneak) are taught by various camp NPCs; train skinning early if you want steady ore from kills.
Trainer cheat-sheet

| Cord | 1H | New Camp lake / cave | New Camp |
| Cavalorn | Bow | Hut outside Old Camp, by the river | No |
| Cohsel | Bow | Outside the camps | No |
| Wolf | Bow | New Camp living cave | New Camp |
| Gor Na Toth | STR / DEX / Mana | Swamp Camp | Swamp Camp |
| Fingers | Lockpicking | Beside Scatty’s hut | No |
The pre-commitment checklist
Because joining a camp at the end of Chapter 1 locks the others out, run this before you swear in:
- Train two-handed at Scatty if your endgame camp won’t offer it.
- Pick up bow training from Cavalorn/Cohsel (no faction needed) if you’re a hybrid.
- Train lockpicking with Fingers so you can loot chests across all three camps’ Chapter 1 content.
- Bank the cross-camp quest XP, then go choose your faction in The Three Camps.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where do you train one-handed weapons in Gothic 1 Remake?
Scatty in the Old Camp (near the arena, often talking with Gor Hanis) trains both one-handed and two-handed. Cord trains one-handed for the New Camp, found by the lake during the day and in the camp's cave in the evening.
Can you train skills before joining a camp?
Some trainers — especially the bow trainers like Cavalorn — don't require faction membership. But two-handed training is tied to Scatty in the Old Camp, so if you plan to join the New or Swamp Camp and want two-handed, train it at the Old Camp first.
