The Crawler Plate Armor is one of the most reliable protective sets you can get during the mid-game of Gothic 1 Remake. Unlike faction-specific gear, it does not require you to hold a specific rank, making it a lifesaver once Chapter 4 throws the colony’s politics into chaos. Learning to Harvest Minecrawler Plates
You cannot just rip plates off a dead Minecrawler. You need the proper harvesting technique first. When Chapter 4 begins and the Old Mine collapses, talk to Wolf, the mercenary residing in the New Camp. He will mention a plan to craft armor using Minecrawler shells but notes that he lacks the raw materials and the expertise to scrape them himself.
Ask him to teach you how to harvest the plates. Once you acquire this skill, hunting Minecrawlers will yield Minecrawler Plates in their inventory.
Hunting Minecrawlers for Chitin Plates
To craft the armor, Wolf requires 15 Minecrawler Plates. Since the Old Mine is no longer accessible, your primary hunting ground will be the Free Mine, which becomes a key conflict zone during Chapter 4. You can also find remaining Minecrawlers in various caves scattered around the colony.

Crafting the Armor
Deliver the 15 plates to Wolf at the New Camp. He will not finish the armor immediately. You need to leave the area and let some game time pass. Completing other main quests, such as visiting Xardas the Necromancer or resolving the Free Mine conflict, will trigger the armor’s completion. When you return to Wolf, he will hand over the Crawler Plate Armor.
